Venus Aerospace, a Houston-based rocket propulsion startup founded in 2020, has opened a new five-acre testing facility at the Houston Spaceport. As reported by KWBU, the site features a specialized test stand designed to accelerate the development of rotating detonation rocket engines (RDRE). These engines aim to provide higher thrust and efficiency than conventional models. The $3.9 million project was backed by a grant from the Texas Space Commission, marking a significant investment in the state's aerospace infrastructure. Company CEO Sassie Duggleby noted that the new facility enables more rapid testing cycles, supporting the firm's goal to commercialize RDRE technology for national security and aerospace applications.
